Natural Teeth Care

Our teeth has to last  us a lifetime, so it is sensible to take care of them. Oral hygiene is very important and cannot be taken lightly. Here are some tips to take care of your teeth the natural way.

1.Brush your teeth twice a day both in the morning and before going to bed. Train children from childhood to do so. A soft angled brush with rounded bristles can be used.
2.Learn the proper way of brushing from your dentist. Special attention should be paid to the back teeth and gaps between the teeth. Brush at least for 2-3 minutes. Floss regularly.
3.Cleaning of tongue is also important for oral hygiene. Use the toothbrush or a tongue cleaner.
4.Eat plenty of calcium rich food and protein as they are essential for healthy teeth. Stay away from starchy food, sugary food and drinks to reduce your risk of tooth decay.
5.Regular consumption of apples can prevent tooth decay as apples have mouth cleansing properties. Apples or raw carrots taken after meals have have the same effect as toothbrush in cleansing the teeth.
6.Rinse your mouth well after every meal. It helps to keep the teeth clean naturally.
7.Do not take very hot or very cold food.
8.Massage your gums with your finger tip to improve blood circulation.
9.Change your toothbrush once in 2 months. Choose a brush with a small head so that it can reach the back of the teeth easily.  Also if you were sick for a long time, throw that germ-filled toothbrush and get a new one.
10.Avoid smoking, drinking alcohol and chewing tobacco as they are not only harmful for the health but also strain your teeth.
11.Use toothpaste containing fluoride to prevent tooth decay. Too much of fluoride is also not good for the teeth. Consult your dentist about what types of oral care products will be most effective for you.
Natural teeth whitening tip
For sparkling teeth you can sprinkle a little salt on the toothpaste before brushing.
Rubbing of bay leaf once in a week also helps. But keep in mind that it is best to go to the dentist for teeth whitening.
Lastly have a regular check up with your dentist.
